§ Mr. John Stradling ThomasEvidence of a deterioration in the state of the carriageway pavements along the M4 affected by the lorry convoys between Port Talbot and Llanwern was discerned before this additional traffic occurred. Any increase in traffic, particularly heavy goods vehicles, reduces the life of the carriageway pavement but it is not possible to isolate the effect of any particular group of vehicles.
