§ Mr. Cashasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science which headings on pages 88 and 89 of the 1983–84 annual report of the Medical Research Council relate to or involve (1) research upon human embryos, (2) research into genetic disorders of (i) human beings, (ii) animals, (3) research into genetic manipulation of (iii) human beings, (iv) animals and (4) research into (a) the prevention, (b) the detection and (c) the cure of (x) infertility of male human beings and also of female human beings and (y) congenital defects of human beings, (5) research upon human embryos for the purposes of each of the matters set out in (4) above and (6) research other than on human embryos for the purposes of each of the matters set out in (4) above; and if he will specify each such heading, provide a comprehensive breakdown of the expenditure incurred by the Medical Research Council in respect of (1) to (5) above and of the research involved and how it has been incurred and to whom such payments have been made.
