asked the Secretary of State for Energy what consequences he expects to flow from the proposed 40 per cent. cut in funding on the renewable energy research design and development programme.

My Advisory Council on Research and Development for Fuel and Power (ACORD) will be considering the renewable technologies at its meeting on 12 March. The council will have before it a review of these technologies which is being prepared by the energy technologys support unit.
