HC Deb 25 February 1985 vol 74 c37W
52. Mr. Soames

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what aid is being given by Her Majesty's Government to promote food production in Pakistan.

Mr. Raison

About 55 per cent. of our aid programme for Pakistan is devoted to the agricultural sector which benefits both food and non-food crops, like cotton. Our main concern has been with irrigation, drainage and salinity control, which directly affects the productivity of the land.
