HC Deb 25 February 1985 vol 74 c47W
22. Mr. Jessel

asked the Secretary of State for Transport what effect he expects the completion of the M25 between Reigate via the Leatherhead interchange to Wisley on the A3 to have on the level of traffic on the A312 at Hampton Hill.

Mrs. Chalker

Traffic forecasts prepared in 1978 pointed to a 10–15 per cent. reduction on the A312 at Hampton Hill following completion of the M25. Recent counts taken on the A309 just south of Hampton Court bridge indicate a 12 per cent. traffic reduction since the M25 opened between Chertsey and Wisley, which suggests that the 1978 forecasts may prove to be on the conservative side once further sections open. My hon. Friend's long-standing support for the M25 is proving to be well justified.
