HC Deb 22 February 1985 vol 73 cc617-8W
Mr. McCusker

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many meetings have taken place since he took office between civil servants in Northern Ireland Government Departments and Sinn Fein representatives to discuss constituency matters; and who have been the Sinn Fein representatives involved.

Mr. Hurd

Since September 1984 there have been two meetings between officials of Northern Ireland Departments and Sinn Fein councillors. Both meetings took place at local level and related to constituency matters. In addition, officials of Northern Ireland Department have attended six meetings with district councils and council committees, at which Sinn Fein councillors were present, together with other councillors from Belfast city council and Omagh district council. I do not believe that it would be right to give details of the individuals involved.
