HC Deb 22 February 1985 vol 73 c605W
Mr. Ashdown

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs how many of the 83 staff in scientific and technical grades who resigned in 1984 from the Government communications headquarters for reasons other than retirement, transfer to another department, maternity or marriage, had already taken the £1,000 offered by the Government on relinquishing the right to join a trades union.

Mr. Rifkind

Of the 83 staff in the scientific and technical grades who resigned in 1984, 72 received the £1,000 in recognition of the loss of their statutory rights under the Employment Protection Acts of 1975.
