HC Deb 22 February 1985 vol 73 cc636-8W
Mr. Robert Atkins

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he will make an announcement about the review of the Eggs Authority.

Mr. Jopling

The other Agricultural Ministers and I are glad to say that the right hon. Lord Peyton of Yeovil has agreed to lead a small committee which will carry out the review of the Eggs Authority. The other members of the committee will be Professor Denis Britton, CBE and Mr. Oscar Colburn, CBE.

Their terms of reference will be to determine whether there is a continuing need for the Eggs Authority and, if so, whether any changes are required to its constitution, functions and financial provisions and to make recommendations.

In carrying out their task the committee will consult all the interests concerned with the future of the Eggs Authority. It is our intention that the review committee's report should be published and presented to Parliament.
