HC Deb 22 February 1985 vol 73 c605W
Mr. Teddy Taylor

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what are the consequences for the United Kingdom of the failure of the European Assembly to approve a budget for the Community for 1985; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Rifkind

In the absence of an approved Community budget for 1985, Community spending, including spending in the United Kingdom is governed by the provisional twelfths regime. This limits payments to the level provided for in the relevant chapter of the 1984 budget, released on a month-by-month basis.
