§ Dr. Marekasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs why the production of fresh milk has been discontinued on the island of St. Helena.
§ Mr. RentonThe St. Helena Government closed the island's only dairy for economic reasons in 1983. It was operating on a continuous deficit because of high production and distribution costs, low demand, and a local preference for the cheaper and more convenient condensed and powdered milks which are in plentiful supply from the United Kingdom.
