§ Mr. Ron Daviesasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food how many fungal diseases of cereals were known to include economically significant resistant strains in relation to use of one or more fungicides in (a) 1965, (b) 1970, (c) 1975, (d) 1980 and (e) 1984; and if he will name them.
§ Mr. MacGregorCurrently, only eyespot is known to include economically significant resistant strains to the fungicides benomyl, carbendazim and thiophanatemethyl, but alternative chemicals are available. Detailed information on the position in past years is not readily available. However, where resistance has occurred in the past it has been overcome by the use of alternative fungicides and the development of new ones.
