§ Mr. LuceWe have good relations with Sudan. There is a long and friendly association between our two countries. My right hon. Friend the Minister for Overseas Development is at present visiting Sudan. We are proud of the contribution we have made to the economic development of that country and regret that this contribution may have been damaged by recent political and economic developments. As friends of Sudan we are doing all we can to help resolve her refugee and drought problems. We hope that the Sudanese authorities will take practical steps to resolve their difficulties peaceably and thus restore stability and prosperity to their country.
