§ 56. Mr. Parrisasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on the Geneva disarmament negotiations on chemical weapons.
§ Mr. LuceThe negotiations resumed on 15 January. Although agreement in principle has been reached on a number of less central issues, there has been no significant progress on key problems of verification. We intend to concentrate on these areas in 1985. We trust the Soviet Union will join us in showing the flexibility and determination needed to achieve a total ban.
