HL Deb 19 February 1985 vol 460 c564WA
Lord Stoddart of Swindon

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether it is their policy that British Gas should continue to have the ability to plan for the security of North Sea Gas supplies as far ahead as possible and to expend their market as far as is reasonable in relation to anticipated supply.

Lord Gray of Contin

The Government believe that the British Gas Corporation can confidently plan on having access to sufficient gas supplies in the North Sea and other areas offshore of Britain to meet the needs of gas consumers well into the future.
