§ Mrs. Peacockasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if Her Majesty's Government have any plans to introduce legislation to allow public witnesses to refer to statements made previously when in the witness box of a trial.
§ Mr. MellorSuch legislation is unnecessary since, as the law stands, any witness (whether or not acting in a professional capacity) may, with the leave of the court, refresh his memory by reference to any writing made or verified by himself at a time when the facts were still fresh in his memory.
