§ Mr. Wheelerasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will seek the renewal of the Prevention of Terrorism (Temporary Provisions) Act 1984; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. BrittanA draft order was laid on 12 February under section 14(10) of the Prevention of Terrorism (Temporary Provisions) Act 1984. If the draft order is approved by Parliament, the Act will continue in force for a further 12 months. I shall receive Sir Cyril Philips' first report on the operation of the Act very shortly; his report and my response to it will be made public before the draft order is debated.
