§ Mr. D. E. Thomasasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will list those local authorities which have agreed to provide emergency control centres as required under the civil defence regulations; and what expenditure has been allocated for each local authority for this purpose.
§ Mr. Giles ShawComprehensive information regarding local authority provision is not available; but no local96W authority in England and Wales has refused to provide an emergency centre. Grant-aid at the rate of 75 per cent. is available for adaptation of existing premises and the provision of essential emergency equipment. Each application is considered on its merits, but in present circumstances approvals are likely to be limited to schemes costing not more than £30,000.
