§ Mr. Wigleyasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will review the policy of his Department in regard to the provision of a probation service in north Wales which reflects the linguistic character of the area.
§ Mr. MellorWhen it falls to my right hon. and learned Friend to make any decision affecting the North Wales probation service, the factor which the hon. Member mentions is one of several that he takes into account in so far as they may be relevant. The primary consideration must be the overall effect of the decision on the service's ability to discharge its duties satisfactorily.
