§ The Attorney-GeneralSince 1 February 1984 such applications have been made by the Director of Public Prosecutions in two cases, both of which involved offences under the Official Secrets Act 1911. No statistics are available for the number of cases in which the court has exercised its power under section 37 of the Children and Young Persons Act 1933 to exclude members of the public whilst taking evidence from a child or young person. No applications of the nature specified in the question have been made in civil proceedings.
