HC Deb 11 February 1985 vol 73 cc31-2W
Mr. Murphy

asked the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State answering in respect of the Arts if he will make a statement on the proposal to create a museum of the history of the British empire.

Mr. Waldegrave

My noble Friend the Minister for the Arts has recently received a copy of the feasibility study prepared for National Heritage on the creation of a museum of the British empire. He has not been asked to back the project with Government funding, which could clearly be very difficult at the present time.

It will be for National Heritage to decide how to take the project forward.
