§ Mr. Freesonasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what representations he has made to the Syrian Government regarding the four men holding Syrian passports who were arrested by the Metropolitan police and deported on 29 January on the grounds that their presence in the United Kingdom was not conducive to the public good.
§ Mr. LuceThe Syrian charge d'affaires was summoned to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office on 5 February. He was left in no doubt of our grave concern about the circumstances which led to the deportation of the four men and was asked to provide clarification of a number of specific points.
