§ Dr. John Cunninghamasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will make a statement about the progress of investigations and research recommended in the Black report about the incidence of Leukaemia in west Cumbria.
§ Mr. Kenneth ClarkeWe have commissioned research projects which will implement the first three recommendations of the report and expect to commision a further project shortly to implement the fourth recommendation. Work is under way and the results of this research will become available over the next three years.
We are still discussing with other Government Departments, outside bodies and clinicians from West Cumbria the best means of carrying out the other research and investigations recommended in the report.
