§ Mr. Dalyellasked the Secretary of State for Defence when the signal authorising HMS Conqueror to sink the General Belgrano transmitted via a United States satellite channel was received by HMS Conqueror.
§ Mr. StanleyThe signal was initially received some time after 3 pm London time, but as it was slightly garbled it was not until after 5 pm that HMS Conqueror reported that she had received and understood the new order. It would not be in the public interest to comment on the channels of communications with submarines.
