Mr. Terry Davis

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will list in the Official Report the religious faiths represented by the eight ministers accredited to visit inmates at Winson Green prison in Birmingham.

The eight visiting ministers currently accredited at Winson Green prison in Birmingham represent Buddhists, Christian Scientists, Jews, Muslims, Pentecostal Church, Quakers, Salvation Army and Sikhs.

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what factors are taken into account when deciding to separate a child from its mother who is in prison.

The prison department's policy on this matter is set out in circular instruction 51/1983, a copy of which is in the Library of the House. If the hon. Member has any particular point in mind I would be glad to look into it.
