HC Deb 04 February 1985 vol 72 c427W
Mr. James Hamilton

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many patients on an area basis were on kidney dialysis machines at 31 December last; and what are the arrangements for further machines.

Mr. John MacKay

At 31 December 1983 (the latest date for which information is available) the following number of patients with renal failure were receiving haemodialysis at the five health board units where this is provided:

Patients
Grampian 25
Greater Glasgow 220
Highland 13
Lothian 99
Tayside 34
Total 391

It is for the five health boards which provide this treatment to decide how many dialysis machines are required for this.
