§ Mr. Gregoryasked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) what was the number of National Health Service amenity beds, deaths and discharges of patients and average daily occupancy, giving numbers and percentages, for each region for each of the last five years;
(2) what is the number of authorised National Health Service pay beds, deaths and discharges of patients, average daily occupancy, giving numbers and percentages, for each region for each of the last five years.
§ Mr. Kenneth Clarke[pursuant to his reply, 1 February 1985, c. 359]: The available information is given in the tables. Percentage occupancy is not a useful statistic in this context as amenity and pay beds can also be occupied by patients who are not amenity or private patients. It has therefore not been included.
