§ 30. Mr. Dormandasked the Secretay of State for Transport if he will make a statement on the investigations being made into repairs on the A19 road.
§ Mrs. ChalkerIn my reply to the hon. Member on 12 November 1984 I referred to further investigations by my Department on the condition of the stage II carriageway. We have concluded that certain repair work is now required to strengthen the pavement on the southbound carriageway south of the Parkway intersection to Redhill bridge, and a short section of the northbound carriageway adjacent to the intersection. These will receive an overlay in the summer of 1985. Further investigations are now in progress on the section south of the Redhill bridge, to determine the extent of any other repairs that may be necessary and these are expected to be completed in the summer.
Negotiations with the consultants and contractors involved in the original construction are continuing.
