HC Deb 01 February 1985 vol 72 c333W
Mr. Peter Bruinvels

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) when he expects to publish the report of his review of public order legislation; and if he will make a statement;

(2) if he will introduce legislation to permit him to ban processions without the prior need for an application from the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis or the appropriate local authority; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Giles Shaw

The procedure for banning marches under section 3 of the Public Order Act 1936 is one of the matters considered in the review of public order law, whose conclusions my right hon. and learned Friend hopes to announce as soon as possible.
