§ Mrs. ChalkerMajor studies on the health effects of asbestos have been carried out in the United Kingdom and abroad, but none specifically relating to asbestos released from vehicle brake linings. All have concluded that the levels of asbestos fibre to which the general public is exposed (and to which brake lining debris contributes only a small part) are very low and do not represent a health risk.
