HC Deb 19 December 1985 vol 89 cc244-5W
Mr. Yeo

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry whether the Government have come to a decision as to the future of the Trade Descriptions (Origin Marking) (Miscellaneous Goods) Order 1981 following the judgment of the European Court of Justice delivered on 25 April in the current year.

Mr. Howard

After consulting organisations representing those interests most likely to be affected, and having taken into account all the views expressed, it has been decided that the only sensible course is to revoke the 1981 order in its entirety. I propose to make an order to that effect early in the new year.
