HC Deb 19 December 1985 vol 89 c290W
Mr. Malone

asked the Solicitor-General for Scotland when it is intended to bring into force the provisions in section 36 of the Law Reform (Miscellaneous Provisions) (Scotland) Act 1985 dealing with evidence in sexual offence trials.

The Solicitor-General for Scotland

My noble and learned Friend the Lord Advocate has made a commencement order under section 60(3)(b) of the 1985 Act bringing section 36 into force on 1 January 1986. The Act contains a transitional provision in paragraph 1 of schedule 3 to the effect that the new evidential rules will apply to all trials commencing after that date.
