HC Deb 19 December 1985 vol 89 c288W
Mr. Hancock

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science why he has asked the National Advisory Board to give further consideration to initial teacher training courses in Portsmouth.

Mr. Walden

My right hon. Friend considered that the proposals submitted to him by the National Advisory Body in September on 1986 to 1989 intakes to courses of initial teacher training in the public sector were insufficient to realise the full potential for securing a high quality, cost-effective system of initial teacher training. He therefore asked the NAB to give further consideration to intakes to all such courses.
