asked the Secretary of State for Wales how many civil servants there are in his Department employed (a) in the Principality and (b) outside the Principality; and how many in each category were born within the Principality.

At 1 December 1985 the number of permanent civil servants employed in my Department in the Principality was 2,258 and outside the Principality was 35. Information about place of birth could not be provided except at disproportionate cost.
