§ Sir George YoungI am placing in the Library the latest version of the regular table showing sales completed by local authorities in England up to September 1985.
The term "options to buy" is not used in the right-to-buy legislation. The table shows the available figures of numbers of claims made by tenants and, of these, the numbers where the right to buy has been admitted by the authority.
Between October 1980 and September 1985 an estimated total of 885,300 claims under the right to buy had been made to local authorities in England and 496,450 sales had been completed. No authority has received more than 3 per cent. of the national total, and most of the 367 local housing authorities accounted for less than 1 per cent. of the total.
