HC Deb 19 December 1985 vol 89 c292W
Mr. Kirkwood

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland when Scotland and Northern Ireland became self-sufficient in blood products.

Mr. John MacKay

Scotland has been virtually self-sufficient in blood products since the end of 1983. From time to time imported blood products are prescribed on clinical grounds.

The position in Northern Ireland is a matter for my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, and I have asked my right hon. Friend to write to the hon. Member.
