§ Mr. Giles ShawThe issue of a safety certificate under the Safety of Sports Grounds Act 1975 is the responsibility of the appropriate local authority which has a statutory duty to consult the chief officer of police and the building176W authority about the terms and conditions to be contained within it. The operation of the Safety of Sports Grounds Act has been the subject of a review by the committee of inquiry into crowd safety and control at sports grounds, whose final report is expected to be published soon.
