§ Mr. Giles ShawThe purpose of the association is to protect the interests and co-ordinate the views of chief police officers. The costs of its secretariat are met from common police services funds, which are provided jointly by central Government and the police authorities. My right hon. Friend has no other responsibilities in relation to the association.
