§ Mr. Nicholas Winterton asked the Secretary of State for Transport what information he has concerning the average number of vehicles per day by which forecast 46W capacity for the year 2000 will exceed the actual capacity at present standards for each of the motorways in the United Kingdom.
§ Mrs. ChalkerThe Department is considering predictions from the 1984 national road traffic forecast in relation to the latest information from the national traffic census as part of its current review of motorway capacity. It will then be necessary to examine in more detail those sections of the network identified as likely to come under greatest traffic pressure. Motorways in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are the concern of my right hon. Friends.
