§ 28. Mr. Rooker asked the Secretary of State for Energy if he will make provision for a free check on the accuracy of all domestic gas meters in advance of privatisation of British Gas.
28W§ Mr. Buchanan-SmithNo. The Gas Bill provides that the existing consumer protection in respect of meter testing will continue unchanged; it would be both unjustified and impracticable to test some 16,000,000 meters before privatisation.
