§ 44. Mr. Janner asked the Minister for the Civil Service how many of the applicants for the post of equal opportunities officer in his Department were (a) white males, (b) white females, (c) males of Afro-Caribbean or Asian origin and (d) females of Afro-Caribbean or Asian origin.
§ Mr. LuceIt is not the practice to fill this post by inviting applications. A member of the personnel division is designated equal opportunities officer on the basis of overall suitability and not on sex or ethnic origin. The first postholder was female, the current holder is male.
