HC Deb 11 December 1985 vol 88 c692W
37. Mr. Steel

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what representations he has received on the new housing legislation in Scotland in favour of retaining the voluntary code of practice in sales by housing associations.

Mr. Younger

I have received representations from the Scottish Federation of Housing Associations and from Williamsburgh Housing Association in favour of retaining the present voluntary code governing sales. One of my hon. Friends has also passed on to me similar representations made to him by Shelter. In addition, six individual housing associations have written expressing a desire to modify certain aspects of the provisions contained in the Housing (Scotland) Bill which are of particular concern to them. I have also received representation from a number of tenants of housing associations and residents' associations welcoming the new legislation.
