HC Deb 11 December 1985 vol 88 c688W
15. Mr. Home Robertson

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what representations he has received supporting his proposal to cut spending on agricultural advisory services fom April 1987.

Mr. John MacKay

Prior to the recent issue of our formal consultation paper, a number of representations have been received on the proposed future funding of the agricultural advisory services in Scotland, including some which recognise that there is merit in the Government's view that industry should make a greater financial contribution towards the cost of services from which it benefits.

30. Mr. Donald Stewart

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make a statement on the future of the agricultural advisory services in Scotland.

Mr. Younger

My Department's consultation paper on the agricultural advisory services in Scotland, which was published on 14 November 1985, has been given a wide circulation to interested organisations within the industry. Careful consideration will be given to all the comments received.
