HC Deb 10 December 1985 vol 88 c558W
Mr. Meadowcroft

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he anticipates a loss to public funds arising from the proposed sale of the Millshaw Park factory of Systime plc.

Mr. Butcher

It is difficult at this stage to anticipate the effect on Systime of the proposed sale and therefore its implications for public funds.

Mr. Meadowcroft

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what further grant recoveries he anticipates making from Systime plc in addition to those shown in Systime's recent accounts.

Mr. Butcher

Detailed information about grants is a matter of commercial confidentiality between the Department and companies involved. I am therefore unable to comment on individual cases.

Mr. Meadowcroft

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry whether Control Data Corporation of the United States of America gave an undertaking to his Department or to the British Technology Group to make available a sum of £20 million for Systime plc in spring 1985; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Butcher

There is no question of CDC having given any undertaking in the terms suggested.
