Mr. McNamara

asked the Secretary of State for Defence (1) whether the two members of 9 Signals Regiment currently in the process of being discharged prior to completion of their engagement have been asked to leave the Service;

(2) whether the two members of 9 Signals Regiment currently in the process of being discharged, prior to completion of their engagement, have asked to leave the Service.

Mr. Lee

Both are female personnel. One is being discharged at her own request on marriage and the other is to be discharged on pregnancy.

asked the Secretary of State for Defence whether the five members of 9 Signals Regiment, who have applied for discharge prior to completion of their engagement, have been asked to leave the Service by their superiors.

asked the Secretary of State for Defence if the two members of 14 Signals Regiment who are currently being considered for discharge before completion of their engagements, have asked to leave the Service.

One has applied to be discharged and one may be discharged administratively following a civil conviction.

asked the Secretary of State for Defence (1) how many of the 81 service men of 14 Signals Regiment discharged since 3 February 1984 upon completion of their engagement applied to and were not permitted to extend their service;

(2) how many of the 121 service men of 9 Signals Regiment discharged since 3 February 1984 upon completion of their engagement applied to and were not permitted to extend their service.

asked the Secretary of State for Defence (1) how many of the 50 service men of 14 Signals Regiment, who have been discharged prematurely since 3 February 1984, have had to reimburse the Ministry of Defence for not completing their engagement;

(2) how many of the 83 service men of 9 Signals Regiment, who have been prematurely discharged since 3 February 1984, have had to reimburse the Ministry of Defence for not completing their engagement.
