asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will give for each year since 1979, and for each region, the total number of authorised pay beds, the total number of deaths and discharges of private patients occupying those beds and the average daily occupation of those beds by private patients.

Mr. Hayhoe

[pursuant to his reply, 25 November 1985, c. 482–84]: I regret that the figure for average daily number of beds occupied by private patients in National Health Service hospitals in south-western region for 1983 was erroneously given as 53, and the England total as 1,264. The correct figures should be 42 and 1,253, respectively.
