HC Deb 10 December 1985 vol 88 c582W
Mr. Tony Banks

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what was the average number of persons held in police and court cells overnight in the Metropolitan police district for the period January 1985 to date for (a) men, (b) women and (c) juveniles.

Mr. Mellor

The average number of prisoners held overnight in police court cells in the metropolitan police district from 1 January to 1 December 1985 is 21 adult males, five females and seven male young offenders. These figures are affected by high numbers held at various times this year as a result of industrial action at certain establishments.
