HL Deb 10 December 1985 vol 469 c197WA
Lord Kennet

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether under earlier or under the new fishery protection arrangements in United Kingdom waters, the inspectorates are required to observe and collect information on oil and other forms of pollution, illicit dumping, illicit sand and gravel extraction, misuse of designated channels and traffic routing systems.

The Minister of State, Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (Lord Belstead)

Yes. While carrying out fishery protection duties, the inspectorates have been and will continue to be required to observe and collect information on all the activities described when they impinge on fisheries, and to report to the appropriate enforcement authorities.
