HC Deb 10 December 1985 vol 88 c603W
51. Mr. Sumberg

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what savings have been achieved by energy conservation measures in the National Health Service.

Mr. Whitney

In England the National Health Service has cumulatively saved over £400 million by energy saving measures between 1972–73 and 1983–84, the latest date for which figures are available.

Without these measures, in 1983–84 the energy fuel bill would have been £80 million greater.
