§ Mr. TraceyThe promotion and sponsorship of sport and sporting events by tobacco companies is restricted by a voluntary agreement between the Government and the industry. The agreement stands until at least 31 December this year. I am currently considering what changes to seek to the agreement, both in the light of advice from the medical profession and the views of other bodies concerned as well as public reaction, and following the continuing negotiations between my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Social Services and the industry in respect of the voluntary agreement on tobacco advertising.
