§ Mr. LuceThe relevant figures are as follows. They demonstrate that the Arts Council's expenditure on music, exclusive of opera, was over £10 million in 1984–85 and that this represented an increase in real terms of 11.9 per cent. between 1979–80 and 1984–85.
